That’s the city of Montepulciano on that hill in the distance.  I spent a month there in the spring of 2009; teaching psychology, enjoying the beauty, relaxing pace, incredible food, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.  Much of “Why Natasha?” takes place in this city on the eastern end of Tuscany.  If this picture looks familiar it may be because in the Twilight movie, “New Moon” Edward drives his little red sports car towards Montepulciano on what is likely the same road from which I took this photo.

That’s my wife, Barb, in the second picture.  She is standing in the Piazza Grande, the central plaza of Montepulciano.  The flag throwing scene in the movie, “Under the Tuscan Sun” was shot in the Piazza Grande.  Chapters 26 & 27 of “Why Natasha?” takes place here as well as Nattie watches a battle of wills between a mom and a two year old on the steps of the church behind Barb.

The third picture is also of the Piazza Grande with the church in the background.  It looks different because there is another movie set being built.  In the movie, “New Moon” the Piazza Grande is so crowded that Edward must climb through a fountain to get to Bella.  The structure in the picture is the first days construction on that fountain.

More photos from Montepulciano to come.
